The BMW X5 is the world's first Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) and it introduces a whole new driving dimension. The BMW X Series ![]() The BMW X1 is a compact luxury crossover SUV developed by BMW, and manufactured by BMW and BMW Brilliance, and marketed worldwide in rear-wheel (sDrive) and all-wheel-drive (xDrive) configurations. The X1 introduced BMW's N20 engine in its xDrive28i model. The X1 is slightly smaller and more affordable than the X3. Development began in 2004, with design work commencing in 2005. Final design work was done by Richard Kim during 2006 and frozen for production in mid-2007.

The X6 was marketed as a Sports Activity Coupé (SAC) by BMW. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (bold styling, dramatic sloping roof). In April 2009 the sporty X6 M version was announced, with a 547 hp (408 kW) 4.4-liter turbocharged V8.
